Messier 81 (bottom) and Messier 82 (top). Known as Bode's Galaxy and the Cigar Galaxy respectively. This photo was taken on Feb. 15, 2023 by me and edited on Feb 17, 2023. It's my first photo so there's definitely room for improvement!
IC 443, also known as the Jellyfish Nebula. This is the remnant of a star that went supernova somewhere between 3,000 and 30,000 years ago! This was taken by me on Feb. 15, 2023 and edited on Feb. 18, 2023. There's still loads of room for improvement, such as removing the halo around Eta Geminorum, but it's still super cool!
The Orion Nebula is a diffuse nebula situated in the Milky Way, south of Orion's Belt in the constellation of Orion, and is known as the middle "star" in the "sword" of Orion. It is one of the brightest nebulae and is visible to the naked eye in the night sky. It is the closest region of massive star formation to Earth. I obviously have more to learn in editing but I don't think it's half bad!
NGC 2174, also known as the Monkey Head Nebula, and open cluster NGC 2175. The nebula is an emission nebula located in the constellation Orion.
There is a lot of noise on it, I spent a few hours trying to get rid of it, but unfortunately, the neighbor's dogs kept triggering the motion detector security lights in their backyard when I was photographing it. But still isn't too bad!
The Lagoon Nebula is a giant interstellar cloud, classified as an emission nebula, in the constellation Sagittarius. It is one of only two star-forming nebulae faintly visible to the eye from mid-northern latitudes, and estimated to be between 4,000–6,000 light-years away from the Earth.
There's a whole lot going on in the core and is just beautiful to look at!
The Cone Nebula is in the constellation of Monoceros. The nebula is located about 2,700 light-years away from Earth.
The cone's shape comes from a dark absorption nebula consisting of cold molecular hydrogen and dust in front of a faint emission nebula containing hydrogen ionized by S Monocerotis, the brightest star of NGC 2264. The faint nebula is approximately seven light-years long.
